There are so many changes in my life I don't know if it's wrong or if it's right And I want you, want you by my side Everything is gonna be alright
Changes in my life I won't leave you behind Changes in my life You will see in time
Changes in my life You're always on my mind Changes in my life I got you by my side
In life we're always looking Let the past behind We try to see the warnings and read all the signs Sometimes you gotta take chances Nothing stays the same The world will keep on turning Again and again, again and again

night of july 28th, 2009
i am walking with jarrod down this stone/concrete place. his mom comes up to us and we're talking about his dad buying a condo or a house. we see this building, maybe four stories tall in the distance.. it looks abandoned from the outside. we go up to it and there's a sign that says 'units for sale' and there is no entrance. i decide to scale the wall, and go up to the second floor but the balcony door has a lock.. so i go down up floors and get in. the bottom floors looked really old, like no one had lived there and was abandoned. the one on the higher floor was totally redone. we go in and there's a fireplace, with a fire burning, furniture and very rich wood. the building was rectangular with three sections. the middle part of the building had a large, grand wide staircase. the other side, opposite the fireplace room had a bar and a freezer that seemed to be right out of a store, like an open freezer where you could just grab yogurt, juice or whatever. it was the refrigerator.. we went downstairs and there's some kind of mystery house. maybe the winchester mystery house. we decide to go in and we're walking down a long hallway with art and pictures. i find a flute of some sort and begin to play it. i end up running into my cousin and we're outside past the end of the house talking with someone

| new feed - middle ageless blog (half a hundred) |
[01 Jul 2009|07:20pm] |
I've just added the feed for a blog I've been enjoying, Middle Ageless (http://halfahundred.blogspot.com/).
"We are a middle-aged couple in the health communications business who are fed up to the gills with the insane images of those over 45, driven by marketing and advertising. We are more healthy, twice as crazy, far less belligerent and a heck of a lot smarter than when we were in our 30s. We don't plan on wearing hearing aids, using crutches, looking wrinkled, or needing Depends for at least as long as we've already lived. Did you hear that Madison Avenue?"

My AC died earlier this week and it was replaced yesterday. I'm happy to report that I now have the modern convenience of a thermostat as well as a remote that tells me what the current temp in my apartment is! It's really really sad how happy this makes me. Haha.
From what I can estimate now that I know the temp in here, I want to say it was easily in the 90s before I got it replaced. 78 feels like I'm in the arctic tundra. Brrrrrrrr!

| THE END in Kodachrome, Somewhere, USA, 1969 |
[25 Jun 2009|08:24am] |
|
Originally published at Charles Phoenix. Please leave any comments there. Broken twigs cleverly placed on a lawn spell out what happened to our beloved Kodachrome this week. Yes, the fine folks at Kodak, in Rochester, NY, announced that the granddaddy and gold standard of all color film has been discontinued. The last roll of Kodachrome film has left the building.
It is the end of yet another Americana icon.
Kodachrome first hit the shelves in 1935 in the form of 16mm movie film. 35mm slide film and 8mm “home” movie film came a year later. Ironically it was two musicians, not photographers that invented the miracle medium. Both had the first name of Leopold. After world war two masses of mom and pop photogs embraced Kodachrome and generously documented the colorful cultural explosion of Americana.
Kodachrome is a very luxurious medium to be documented in. When used correctly it lavishes its subjects with depth of light and shadow, clarity and a color spectrum unlike anything known to mankind. But processing the worlds most famous film is no easy task. It takes chemists working with cantankerous machinery to do the job. And, by the way, if you have Kodachrome film that needs to be developed now is the time because there is only one place left that can do it, Dwayne’s Photo in Parsons, Kansas. It’s probably going to take more than an hour.
Kodachrome slides changed my life. It was 1992; I was meandering through a thrift shop, which at the time wasn’t unusual for me, when a blue shoebox marked “Trip across the United States 1957” caught my eye. I opened it up and it was full of slides. I held a few up to the light and knew immediately these orphaned Kodachromes were a treasure with my name on it. I haven’t stopped collecting slides since. I find slides to be little time traveler vehicles providing a quick and easy ride-a-long to another place and time. They are without a doubt my medium of choice when it comes to studying mid-20th century American life and style.
Kodachrome film may be gone but may the slide shows never end.
Have you been documented in Kodachrome?
Here’s to both Leopolds, Kodak, Kodachrome and YOU!

morning of tuesday, june 23rd
i find myself walking on a river. i'm on the bank, which is elevated above the river, and there is a light dirt path. trees and foliage are around me although it is not very rich. boats come by every so often as i am walking, yelling 'you can't be here! you will get shot'. i'm guessing i'm poaching! the water river is dirty. instead of walking on the river bank, i climb a hill, through the brush and find a clearing. it's circular and i hide out there because i don't want to be dodging bullets. two dark skinned kids come up to the clearing as more foot traffic is down below me on the path and they start playing around. there is a pig that is digging in the dirt and i'm hearing a national geographic-esq voice telling me what the pig is doing. it keeps like.. humping everything and digging digging. i talk to the kids and the kids are playing.
i'm looking at a map of costa rica, panama (central america) with danny and somehow we're at his family's house down there. there is a firefighter in the back that gives us jackets and something else and starts telling us about how someone is trying to promote some kind of aids awareness. we go back inside and it's me, rogelio, danny, his mom and someone else. we are inside and i see danny's mom and say 'hello mama!' she gives me a kiss on each cheek. we're waiting on his dad and he finally gets there. we say hello, shake hands and mike is there as well. we head out to go do something.. it's me, jarrod, danny (or ro) and we're in jarrod's car. he's driving.. i thought that danny's dad was inside the cab as well but it turns out that his grandfather was in the cab! me and jarrod are talking and he tells me that he hooked up with some guy that knows who i am. and that he met him online.. i see his phone and i don't recognize him. i am so upset, so i tried to slap him but he laughs and blocks me.
